MakerBot Tough PLA Filament Bundle
Create durable, high-impact strength prototypes and fixtures with this bundle. It includes 3 spools of Tough Filament and the Tough Smart Extruder+. Engineers and designers can save time and money with a filament that’s as tough as ABS and as reliable to print as PLA.
Machine and Finish
Throw your printed part into the CNC or drill press; tap some threads and bolt on a steel bracket, or sand the surface and paint for a finished presentation piece. Whatever your design challenge, MakerBot Tough filament makes it easy to test and present your parts in real-world applications.
MakerBot Tough is a functional material that MakerBot developed to address the specific needs of designers and engineers.

FOUR COLORS
Four MakerBot Tough filament colors for creators who need to color code their parts or want more creative flexibility in presentations.
- Slate Grey
- Safety Orange
- Stone White
- Onyx Black
5 key features
- Similar tensile, impact, and flexural strength to ABS
- Greater durability than PLA —which means it can flex more than PLA before it breaks
- Suitable for printing jigs and fixtures with threaded and snap fits that can withstand repeated use
- Warps less than ABS during printing, which makes for more reliable print results
- MakerBot Tough and the Tough Smart Extruder+ are optimized to provide consistent results and ease-of-use.
LOCAL MOTORS
Local Motors uses MakerBot Tough filament to 3D print their self-driving car
Learn how designers and engineers at Local Motors use MakerBot Tough filament to meet their prototyping and in-house production needs at every step of the process.
“There’s a huge difference between using an outside part manufacturer and having that capability in-house. The convenience of being able to print a part on a MakerBot 3D printer and have it in your hand in a couple hours is not only cheaper, but also reduces lead times and allows us to iterate that much more quickly.”
- Frederik Tjonneland, Design Engineer, Local Motors
